An abysmal obscurity of a film that is mildly entertaining but lacks of any replay value whatsoever, Blood Nasty was never released theatrically or on video in the U.S and was only released on video in Greece and a few other countries. No DVD version exists as of yet.

Roy is killed by a couple of jewel thieves and then brought back to life and possessed by deceased serial killer “Blade”. He returns home and his mother is not very happy to see him as she wants to collect his life insurance policy. Soon, things get out of hand as mom is trying to make sure nobody knows that Roy has “come back” and Blade is trying to let everybody know that he has “come back”.

It’s fairly obvious that this falls mostly into the camp/comedy/horror category. Quite similar to Troma stuff like : Death by Dialogue or Mommy’s Epitaph this will only be of interest to hardcore straight-to-video horror connoisseurs and Linnea Quigley completists.

Ασύλληπτος υπερ-σπάνιος βιντεοτεκές δικαίως λησμονημένος από όλον το ντουνιά.Μπορεί να μην έτυχε διανομής στις ΗΠΑ αλλά κυκλοφόρησε στην Ελλάδα από τη θρυλική ΕΛΛΑΣ ΚΟΣΜΟΣ ΒΙΝΤΕΟ, θεωρείται λοιπόν σπάνιο φιλμ.

Μικροκακοποιός σκοτώνεται προδομένος από τους συντρόφους του στα πλαίσια σκοτεινού κόλπου και το σώμα του καταλαμβάνεται από το σατανικό πνεύμα Κολομβιανού εμπόρου ναρκωτικών,ονόματι Μπλεηντ. Η οικογένεια εποφθαλμιά τα χρήματα της αποζημίωσης, αλλά ο νεκρός Roy και η νεοαφιχθείσα φιλενάδα του Μπλεηντ ,Wanda καταφθάνουν στην οικογενειακή εστία και περιπλέκουν τα πράγματα.

Οι οπαδοι βιντεοσκουπιδιών λογικής Troma Films μπορεί και να χαμογελάσουν,οι αρχειοθέτες των κάκιστων ταινιών τρόμου επίσης.Οι λοιποί μακρυά.

 

Hanging Heart (1983)

Γενικόλογο και αναίμακτο θρίλερ το οποίο μπλέκει τον απατηλό χώρο του θεάματος με την ψυχοπαθολογία και το πασπαλίζει αφ’ενός με έριδες που θυμίζουν σαπουνόπερα,αφ’ετέρου με λεπτομέρειες δικαστικού δράματος βγαλμένες κατευθείαν από βαρετό επεισόδιο του Μάτλοκ.Όπως και να’χει η φόρμουλα δεν λειτουργεί παρά το γεγονός οτι μερικές σκηνές φλας μπάκ έχουν ένα σχετικό ενδιαφέρον.

Δεν ξέρω σε ποιους μπορεί να αρέσει μια ταινία που λέει με εντελώς επίπεδο τρόπο τα ίδια ακριβώς πράγματα με εκατοντάδες άλλες ταινίες.Ενώ δεν είναι το κλασσικό παράδειγμα απαράδεκτης σεναριακά ιστορίας,παρ’όλα αυτά δε νομίζω να αφορά σχεδόν κανέναν.

Δικαίως πανάγνωστη,αγοράστηκε από το γράφοντα μόνο και μόνο για τον υπερτράς Ελληνικό βιντεοτίτλο.Προσπεράστε…

Denny is a struggling actor whose girlfriend’s dead body is found in the theater where they have been preparing for their new production. Being one of many suspects, Denny must track down the killer as others around him are found dead one by one. Can he unmask the killer before his own life is turned upside down?

Painfully obscure and relatively bloodless erotic thriller that mostly dwells in the realms of visual boredom but it also offers a few perverse details about the protagonist’s dark past.Alas the tense and the qualitative moments are few and far between.I get the constant impression that “Hanging Heart” is a twisted version of a TV soap opera like “The Bold and the Beautiful” and this is definitely not a good thing.Undoubtedly not the worst film you’ll ever encounter,but far too generic to make the viewer revel in enthusiasm.

There isn’t any particular reason to watch this one,if you aren’t a die-hard collector of B-Movie obscurities.Some films are destined to stay obscure no matter what.

Hired to Kill(1990)

Action πρωταθλητισμός από το Μαστοράκη.Εντάξει δεν παραδίδει και μαθήματα ολοκληρωτικού ποδοσφαίρου,αλλά μάλλον βγαίνει στο Ουέφα.

Κυνικός Μισθοφόρος αναλαμβάνει να σώσει γηραιό πνευματικό άνδρα,ο οποίος σαπίζει στα μπουντρούμια μεσογειακής χουντοκρατούμενης Μπανανίας υπό το κωδικό όνομα Cypra(παρντόν?).O μισθοφόρος παριστάνει το διάσημο gay μόδιστρο και πλαισιώνεται από πλειάδα όμορφων,πλήν σκληρά εκπαιδευμένων και θανάσιμων θηλυκων κομάντος,αφού αυτός είναι ο μόνος τρόπος να εισέλθει ανενόχλητος στη χώρα.

Δυνατό τεμάχιο με ερμηνεία ράπισμα από τον ογκόλιθο Brian Thompson (αυτός που λέει “You Pig!!! στο “Cobra”).Μεροκάματο βγάζουν εδώ και άλλοι τρας ογκόλιθοι όπως οι Oliver Reed (Revenger),George Kennedy (Demonwarp,Nightmare at Noon).Όπως γίνεται αντιληπτό το όμορφο νησί της Κέρκυρας όπου λαμβάνει χώρα το παρόν,ζεί στιγμές τρας μεγαλείου.

Καταδιώξεις σε καντούνια,πιστολίδια σε σπηλιές,ρομαντικά δείπνα σε γραφικές αυλές,συνωμωσίες μέσα στο Αχίλλειο,μια διαβόητη σκηνή που αποπνέει “ερωτισμό” με πρωταγωνιστές τους Reed και Thompson και άλλα πολλά καθιστούν το “Hired to kill” αρκετά ιδιαίτερο.Η κινηματογράφιση από τον Ανδρέα Μπέλλη είναι χάρμα οφθαλμών και η σκηνοθεσία του Μαστοράκη είναι σωστή όπως πάντα.Ο Έλληνας σκηνοθέτης κατορθώνει να δώσει μια εσάνς χλιδής και κοσμοπολιτισμού στην ταινία και αυτό καταγράφεται μεταξύ άλλων στα υπέρ της παραγωγής.

Συνοψίζοντας,το “Hired to Kill” καταγράφεται ως μία καλή στιγμή στη φιλμογραφία του Έλληνα B-Movie Τιτάνα,σε αντίθεση με τη μπούρδα “Ninja Academy”.

A fashion photographer and seven models travel to a South American island fortress called Cypra(ahem,ahem), ostensibly to do a fashion shoot. In reality, the photographer is a mercenary and their job is to “dethrone” a corrupt dictator called Bartos(Oliver Reed) and to liberate an imprisoned rebel leader.

A successful action film entry by Nico Mastorakis,featuring a killer cast and set in the picturesque Corfu location.

Brian Thompson(“Cobra”)does  a rock solid job as the mercenary called Frank Ryan,he is surrounded by some lethal female soldiers,supposedly his fashion models,which is a semi-original fact for the genre standards.The movie also features decent performances by Oliver Reed(plus mustache)and George Kennedy.

On the technical side.The production values seem to be superior compared to other direct to video products of that era and the overall product has a “slick” look.Credits should also be given to Andreas Bellis for his excellent bright and crisp cinematography.The Corfu location was proved to be a successful choice too.Very picturesque.

Honestly,there is nothing to complain about here.A decent actioner with lots of great moments including an infamous highlight scene featuring Reed & Thompson(I won’t give it away…)

An excellent way to kill 90 minutes…

Bloodstone (1988)

Δεν λέει και πολλά τούτο το οικογενειακό comedy/action παραγωγής Νίκου Μαστοράκη/Omega entertainment.

Zευγάρι Αμερικανών τουριστών ζουν την περιπέτεια της ζωής τους,όταν  “φυτεύεται” στις αποσκευές τους ανεκτίμητο διαμάντι τεραστίων διαστάσεων.Το “ματωμένο” αυτό διαμάντι έχει προέλευση ιστορική για την Ινδία,αφού ουσιαστικά αποτελεί φόρο τιμής ενός χαροκαμένου μαχαραγιά,αποχαιρετηστήριο δώρο στη νεκρή του κόρη.Όπως γίνεται κατανοητό,όλη η αστυνομία,αλλά και ο υπόκοσμος ξεχύνεται στο κατόπι των τουριστών.Οι Αμερικάνοι τακιμιάζουν με έναν περπατημένο Ινδό ταξιτζή και μαζί προσπαθούν να βρούν λύση στους μπελάδες του.

Καλός ρυθμός,καλή φωτογραφία,το Μαντράς είναι ένα location που δεν προβάλεται συχνά,τουλάχιστον στο δυτικό cinema,αλλά με μια πλοκή ξεπερασμένη,πολυφορεμένη και με ανούσια κωμικά γκαγκς που θυμίζουν κακή βερσιόν του Λουί Ντε Φινές δεν πας πουθενά.Προσωπικά ο οικογενειακός προσανατολισμός της ταινίας με αποξενώνει και καθιστά την ταινία στα αδιάφορη στα μάτια μου.

When an newlywed American couple goes to India on their honeymoon, little do they realize that they were about to go on the adventure of their life time. A ruby, back from the ages of the Indian Maharajas has been stolen and placed in the backpack of the Americans. When the bad guys realize this, they kidnap the wife.. Now the husband and his Indian friend (played by a famous Tamil Indian actor) must go out to save the wife. But along the way, they are confronted with many challenges, like the Indian bad guys who steal the ruby from them!

Dull and predictable PG-13 action/comedy set in India.

According to my opinion,this is one of the weaker OMEGA entertainment entries,but this is rather personal.”Bloodstone” is fast paced,well directed,well photographed and reaps the benefits of the bigger than usual budget that it was poured in the production. Mastorakis & co.probably thought that this would work quite well in the box office and video market.Well,truth be told,it’s quite cool for what it is,additionally the Indian setting is unique to say the least,but the comical gags just don’t work for me and the plot,including the climax,are old news,really dated even for 1988.

As I have stated in the past,I don’t mind comedy in action flicks,as long as it is unintentional or over-the-top(f.e “Traxx”).I can’t stand family oriented comedy,thus “Bloodstone” is not for me.Fans of leisurely paced,campy action might like this one.

Grandmother’s House(1989)

Έχουμε πάρει εργολαβία την Omega entertainment κανονικότατα εδώ πέρα.Όσοι διαβάζουν το μπλόγκ ξέρουν τι αντιπροσωπεύει ,για το B-movie πάνθεον,η εταιρεία συμφερόντων Νίκου Μαστοράκη,άρα κόβουμε τον πρόλογο και προχωράμε στο ψητό.

Μετά το θάνατο του πατέρα τους,τα αδέλφια David και Lynn αναγκάζονται να μετακομίσουν στην απομονωμένη φάρμα του παππού και της γιαγιάς τους,ένα μέρος γεμάτο σκοτεινές αναμνήσεις και σφραγισμένα δωμάτια,ειδικά το κελάρι δείχνει να κλείνει μέσα του αρκετούς σκελετούς και πτώματα.Ειναι οι Παππούδες δολοφόνοι? Αν  και τώρα που τα λέμε δεν μυρίζουν αρκετά ιδιαίτερα,ακόμα και για ηλικιωμένοι?

Όσο χύμα και πρόχειρογραμμένο και αν είναι το σενάριο,οφείλουμε να παραδεχτούμε πως τούτη εδώ η μπιμουβιά διαθέτει εξαιρετική αίσθηση του σασπένς και παρακολουθείται ενίοτε με κομμένη την ανάσα.Σ’αυτό φυσικά συντελούν οι συμπαθητικές ερμηνείες του κάστ, η μερακλίδικη σκηνοθεσία (με εύφημο μνεια να απονέμεται στις ισχυρές σκηνές του υπογείου καθώς και στην έντονη σκηνή καταδίωξης μέσα σε πορτοκαλεώνα) και το υπερκούλ και ανατριχιαστικότατο φινάλε.

Το αρνητικό του πράγματος είναι σίγουρα o χαμηλός προυπολογισμός της ταινίας,ο οποίος στερεί από το σκηνοθέτη την ευκαιρία να βάλει λίγο παραπάνω απ’το κόκκινο υγρό στον καμβά του.Τουτέστιν ψιλοαναίμακτα τα πεπραγμένα στο παρόν .Για να γινω ακόμα πιο σαφής, η ταινία στα μάτια του κυνικού θεατή μάλλον μοιάζει με καλοφτιαγμένο επεισόδιο σειράς του Πάνου Κοκκινόπουλου.Παρ’όλα αυτά,ακόμα και με τεχνάσματα,η ατμόσφαιρα της ταινίας θυμίζει,παλιό,καλό θρίλερ.Προκρίνεται άνετα στην επόμενη φάση…

Πολύς κόσμος,ειδικά στο εξωτερικό ψάχνει για τούτη την ταινία.Εμένα Το Ελληνικό vhs μου φτάνει και μου περισσεύει.Νομίζω έχει βγει και σε dvd από omega.Slasherάκηδες…για πλησιάστε…

Routine but well constructed and atmospheric late slasher/thriller produced by the master of el cheapos himself,Nico Mastorakis.

When their father dies, Lynn and her younger brother David have to move in with their grandparents. Their mother died already when they were young, so they were told. One morning a dead man is found near their new home. A friend tells David, that it’s not the first. Shortly after he sees his grandparents carry a body into the garage – are they the murderers?

For starters,this one has its fair share of red herrings. Rader generally makes use of several old tricks and “banale” proceedings,but the formula works perfectly fine,despite the cliches and budget restrictions.Len Lesser and Brinke Stevens sure do rock in their respective parts and the rest of the cast manage to deliver credible performances.The direction is not of an ambitious kind,nevertheless is very competent,some basement shots in particular are really hair raising and the chase scene among the orange trees is pretty intense.Special credit should go to the end,which comes with a nice and creepy twist.

Verdict:A nice little hidden gem of a film,although hardly an original one.
